The Art of Less Doing – Ari Meisel

Top Task Tuesdays

Assistant September 11, 2012 Posts 5 Comments

People are always asking me what I have my virtual assistants do. On average I request about 150 tasks per month, some by phone and some by email. Whether you are using FancyHands or Zirtual, here’s some ideas of the things you can outsource:

  • Contact Sentry Alarms in Binghamton, they automatically charged me this month for a service I already cancelled, please get a refund
  • Find an installer for the the EK2C Door Lock System
  • Find a web service the provides somewhat automated interpretations of Google Analytics
  • Visit xxx site and subscribe me to their mailing list
  • I have two appts on monday for the same thing, call and confirm which is correct than update the calendar

Thanks for the ideas Ari! I am going to try to get more comfortable with outsourcing these sort of things to my assistant - I always think that she won't be as persistent as me if there's a conflict with billing, etc. so I usually still end up doing that stuff but I'm going to try to let go and get out of my comfort zone.

p.s. I had to laugh at your 4th item - Visit xxx site and add to email list. I know you meant random with the xxx but of course triple x's made me think of something different and the thought of sending your assistant to sign up for an email list on one of those sites was hilarious (probably one of the things NOT to outsource)

If you are happy with your Fancy Hands assistant, give 'em a thumbs up! They love that and it helps them out more than you know. :)

I still can't bring myself to do this. I need to get past the must-do-it-myself gene I must have.

FYI, Authority Labs is a good place to look for automated Google Analytics .  http://authoritylabs.com/
