My Favorite Dessert

Blog-CAPS-MyFavoriteDessert Most nights I end the evening with a bowl of heaven. A simple dessert that I got in the habit of eating over a year ago and simply love. It goes like this:

1 Cup of Full Fat Greek Yogurt 2 Tablespoons of Raw Cacao Powder 2 Tablespoons of Chia Seeds 1/4 Cup of Frozen Blueberries

Stir it up and leave it for about 15 minutes and you end up with the richest, most delicious chocolate pudding imaginable. Notice there are no sweeteners added and that is intentional. If you want to add stevia or xylitol be my guest or even a bit of honey but this satisfies my sweet tooth even though the blueberries provide a barely perceptible level of sweetness. This is not just about enjoyment, there are some serious health benefits to this small bowl of goodness. The blueberries provide antioxidants. The chia seeds give your body energy and their gelatinous nature (when wet) makes them excellent for your digestive tract. The yogurt provides a nice shot of probiotics but the cocoa powder is the real star. Raw cacao powder has antioxidants, omega fatty acids, as well as a good amount of magnesium, which is great right before bed as it has a calming effect and will improve mood and even sleep by reducing cortisol levels.
